Blessing Blaai

Born in Johannesburg in 1994, Blaai grew up and lived in the city, which hugely influenced his approach to art. After receiving the Council Chambers ‘Totem Award’ in 2016, he joined 32 Flavours Art Studio in August 2017. Here, he decided to pursue more formal arts training at Artist Proof Studio, a unique community printmaking centre of excellence. He is currently in his first year of the selective printmaking programme. His preferred medium for painting is ink, which he also explored for the illustrations for Urban Tingwanekwane – The Hole in the Wall.
