César Schofield Cardoso was born in Mindelo, Cape Verde Islands (West Africa). He works in photography, film and media art. In 2006 he launched PRAIA.MOV, an urban culture movement in the Cape Verdean city of Praia, in collaboration with architects, artists and other critical thinkers, which has since marked his creative production around the issues of citizenship, justice, urban space and identities. As a web programmer, he has combined online platforms, image and sound. He is the creator and author of the blog bianda.blogspot.com and co-founder of the Black Cinema Itinerant Forum (www.ficine.org) and Storia [na] Lugar (www.storianalugar.net). From 2012 to 2016 he was the coordinator of the Department of Cinema and Media Art at Cape Verde’s Ministry of Culture.
