Nolan Dennis

Nolan Oswald Dennis is a South African interdisciplinary artist and researcher. Born in Lusaka, Zambia, his practice explores what he calls “a black consciousness of space” – the material and metaphysical conditions of decolonisation. He is interested in so-called marginal spatial systems and the nexus between material reality and social fiction. His current focus is on geopolitics as an aspect of geological rather than geographic relations: the social production of the earth as the first cosmic body, and the African as the second. Dennis holds a BAS degree in architecture from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, and is currently an MSc candidate in the Art, Culture and Technology programme at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is a co-founder of the decolonial tech agency NTU and the architectural research group Jofaji.
