Doreen Adengo

Doreen Adengo is a Ugandan architect based in Kampala. She is head of Adengo Architecture, an architecture and urbanism practice grounded in research and multidisciplinary collaboration. Recent projects have focused on researching the housing crisis in Kampala and trying to develop affordable housing solutions. After completing her undergraduate and graduate studies at the Catholic University of America and Yale respectively, she worked in London, Washington, D.C. and New York – for Adjaye Associates; Robert A. M. Stern Architects; Ellerbe Becket; and Gruzen Samton Architects. She has taught at The New School and Pratt Institute in New York and at Makerere University in Kampala. Adengo is currently a part-time lecturer at Makerere University’s intern training programme and a visiting critic at the University of Johannesburg’s Graduate School of Architecture.
