Issa Diabaté has a master’s degree in architecture from Yale University. He is the managing director of Koffi & Diabaté Architects and co-founder of the Koffi & Diabaté Group. In the early 1990s he served as an intern at architecture firms in the Ivory Coast (Goly Kouassi), the US (Dureaux and Purenell) and France (Jean Nouvel et Catani), where he took part in the Cité Judiciaire de Nantes contest. In 1994 he joined SAU Guillaume Koffi as an architectural intern, eventually partnering with its founder, Guillaume Koffi, to create Koffi & Diabaté Architects. A member of the Ivory Coast’s Order of Architects, Diabaté’s design work was recognised at the 1998 Dak’Art Biennale of Contemporary African Art in Dakar.
